Job Description

Core responsibilities

  • Policy and compliance: Develop and implement safety policies, ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Risk management: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards, implement effective control measures to reduce risks, and regularly monitor and report on safety performance.
  • Inspections and audits: Perform regular inspections of workplaces, equipment, and activities to ensure safety standards are met and identify areas for improvement.
    Incident investigation: Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses to determine their root causes and take appropriate action to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and education: Develop and deliver training programs for employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of equipment and protective gear.
    Emergency preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency plans, such as evacuation plans and first aid procedures, to ensure a swift and effective response in emergencies.
    Reporting and documentation: Compile and maintain relevant records, such as incident reports, safety audit findings, and training documentation, and prepare reports for management.
    Safety culture: Promote a proactive safety culture by working with management and employees, and ensuring everyone understands and follows safety procedures.
